Martin and Paul brought along a Scroll Saw / Fret Saw and some examples of their work.

Martin explained the intricacies of choosing the right blade for a piece of work.   There were 4 types to choose from as well as different sizes of tooth.   The most important information to me as a vary occasional and amateur user of a scroll saw was that the blades are stamped out from at the side.   This produces a blade that is smooth one one side and has a burr on the other and a blade that has a tendency to cut faster on one side, so the operator needs to always adjust to keep the blade close to the line.      They have an exercise to help new users get used to the work

It is Martin on the machine and Paul explaining why it is better to use a pin less  blade.
